Background: Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), a dimeric glycoprotein hormone, stimulates Sertoli cell proliferation and spermatogenesis in males. Azoospermia is defined as the absence of sperm in the ejaculate. The majority of patients with non-obstructive azoospermia have high FSH levels.
